Kanye West’s YEEZY x 2XU Launch Shuts Down After Nobody Turned Up
After a string of reputation-damaging Tweets, Kanye West’s ability to draw a crowd may actually be coming to an end.
While West’s highly popular YEEZY brand is known for amassing large crowds and queues during product launches in the past, the rapper’s latest drop in collaboration with fitness brand 2XU was cancelled after a surprisingly low turnout.
The release took place at 2XU’s outlet in Sydney where a queue was expected, but this was not the case and the launch was shut down after just 45 minutes.
The collection of bicycle shorts and leggings were teased on social media over the last couple of months, with wife Kim Kardashian donning the apparel to generate hype.
However, a combination of West’s dwindling influence and the exceedingly high price point for bicycle shorts – around $500 for a pair – proved too much for even his die-hard fans to turn up.
An official statement from 2XU sings a different tune, however, stating, “There’s been a change of direction from head office and unfortunately the event has been cancelled.”
Time will tell if the low turnout was a one-off or a sign of things to come for future YEEZY releases.
Here’s A Hands-On Look At The YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Sesame”
A few weeks after a first look was revealed by Yeezy Mafia, new images of the YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Sesame” have surfaced, giving us a better look at what to expect from the upcoming Kanye West x adidas collaboration.
Taking on a greyish hue on its upper, the “Sesame” will feature a brand new Primeknit pattern alongside other new additions.
According to rumours, the pair will be dropping in August, although no official announcements have been made yet.
Instagram account @dirtymoney823 posted several images of the pair on-hand, giving us a clearer look from all angles.

Since his return to Twitter last week, Kanye West has been on the front foot with regular updates and this morning was no exception.
A slight departure from a string of life quotes and nuggets of wisdom, West took to Twitter to share images of never-seen-before YEEZY sneakers including unreleased colourways and even early prototypes of what could have been.
A highlight of the posts is an image showcasing a row of YEEZYs arranged in a spectrum, spanning from the YEEZY BOOST 350 V2, the YEEZY 700 Wave Runner and the YEEZY 500.

It’s particularly interesting to note just how many colourways were made for the 350 V2, arguably the most popular of the silhouettes.
Kanye also revealed that he dabbled and experimented with transparent uppers on the 350 V2, on a colourway that resembled a snake-skin effect.

Additionally, we got a preview of pastel-coloured YEEZY 500s, a basketball shoe prototype, and an early prototype of the YEEZY 451. For a closer look, check out the remaining Tweets below.

Yeezy Mafia’s Twitter Account Gets Suspended Following Feud With Kim Kardashian
Insider group Yeezy Mafia has had its Twitter account suspended yesterday, months after its very public feud with Kim Kardashian West earlier in the year.
Kardashian West called for the account to be shut down after she accused the group of spreading false information regarding the YEEZY clothing line, the brainchild of her husband Kanye West.
The disagreement sparked over the YEEZY Season 7 launch, which Yeezy Mafia claimed involved West inviting buyers into an empty showroom as he couldn’t achieve his vision for the collection. His wife then called out the group stating that she had already been wearing the collection, evidence for the collection’s existence.
The suspension comes after the group lost its ‘blue tick’ verification from the social media company. When asked why Yeezy Mafia was allowed to have “Yeezy” in its name when TeamKanye couldn’t use “Kanye”, Kardashian West replied suggesting that it was only a matter of time.

While the account suspension took place after Kardashian West had openly called for its closure, it isn’t clear as to whether she was directly involved in this particular incident.
According to Yeezy Mafia, a company who specialises in image rights for celebrities has claimed copyright infringement on its Twitter account. The group specifically points towards the images of Kim in YEEZY Season 6 outfits, which the group intended to help promote the collection.

Regardless, the insistence by the West-Kardashian camp on taking down Yeezy Mafia seems rather counter-intuitive, particularly because it’s groups like these that help generate hype and interest over YEEZY products. The incident is also suspiciously well-timed with Kanye’s recent return to Twitter.
Thankfully, an account closure won’t be stopping Yeezy Mafia anytime soon. You can still follow their updates on their backup account @Y33ZYM4F14.
Here’s An Up-Close Look At The YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Butter”
With Pharrell Williams taking the headlines for the most hyped adidas releases this year so far, Kanye’s YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 is returning to the fray very shortly.
Set to launch in June, the “Butter” colourway of Mr West’s famed silhouette will be dropping globally and thanks to Yeezy Mafia, it appears that there’ll be new design changes from previous iterations.

The most prominent will be on the positioning of the “SPLY-350” text and stripe, which will now be placed on the medial (inner) side of the shoe instead of the lateral (outer) side.
From the images posted by Yeezy Mafia, it appears that the pair will look fairly similar to the “Cream White” colourway with yellower hues instead of cream.
Instagram user @ink3ufang also posted further close-ups of the pair in all its glory. Check them out below.

YEEZY BOOST 700 “Wave Runner” Restocking Globally
With the chunky dad shoe trend well and truly underway, the big daddy of them all is making a comeback very soon.
According to Yeezy Mafia, Kanye West’s very own YEEZY BOOST 700 “Wave Runner” will be restocking globally.

The news comes days after West was spotted wearing an unreleased all-white version of the YEEZY BOOST 700 following the birth of his third child, Chicago.
Despite the timeliness, Yeezy Mafia insists that the re-release of the 700s will be in the original colourway

First Look At The YEEZY Desert Rat 500 Runner, Set To Drop Early Next Year
The dad shoe trend is well and truly here, and it looks like it’s staying for awhile. In addition to the chunky YEEZY BOOST 700, it appears that a new YEEZY silhouette is on the cards.
Friend of Kanye and proprietor of No Vacancy Inn, Tremaine Emory, took to social media to reveal the kicks, giving us a first look at what’s been dubbed as the YEEZY “500”.
The sneaker features a tonal grey colour scheme, described by Emory as “Desert Rat”, and utilises suede and mesh on its upper. Yeezy Mafia however added that “Desert Rat” is the model name and not the colourway.

Kim Kardashian Reveals Upcoming YEEZY Powerphase Colourways on Snapchat
In a Snapchat post by Kim Kardashian, it appears that at least two new colourways for the adidas YEEZY Powerphase are on their way.
A day after Kanye West took to the streets in an unreleased pair of tonal grey Powerphases, his wife Kim teased fans with a short clip showcasing both the tonal grey and an additional all-black version of the silhouette.
While it’s unclear as to when the kicks will be released, the recent teases by both West and Kardashian point towards a nearby drop date.

Kanye’s Promise For Mass YEEZY Releases Might Just Come True
Kanye West made a bold promise in 2015, pledging that his popular sneaker line would one day be available in mass quantities.
While releases in the past have seen a huge disparity between its supply and the overflowing demand for the shoes, a recent infographic published by Yeezy Mafia suggests that his promise might actually be coming to fruition.
Recent releases of the YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 has seen quantities increase with every colourway, with the recent “Cream White” being the most available in the market.
While the graphic doesn’t include the V1 releases, it’s interesting to note how high supply has risen since the drop of the Black Friday triplet.
Resale prices have also corrected itself with a recent decrease due to the increasing supply of the kicks. While YEEZY BOOST 350 V2s were once able to fetch over US$1,500, prices on reselling site StockX now float around US$500 to US$700 depending on colourway.
Regardless, both fans and resellers would be circling the upcoming release dates for the three remaining drops this year. The “Beluga 2.0” is expected to release in October, while the “Blue Tint” and “Semi Frozen Yellow” are slated for a December drop.
