Introducing TNTCO, Your New Favourite Asian Streetwear Label

The last couple of years has seen a huge uptake in street fashion here in Singapore as more individuals become interested in streetwear culture.

However, the trend has mainly been to look towards international brands for the latest drops, whether it’s Supreme or BAPE or Off-White, while overlooking Asian and, most importantly, Southeast Asian labels that are producing amazing products and looks in our own backyards.

A label that has been making waves in its own hometown of Malaysia is TNTCO and we have a hunch it’s only a matter of time before they start making waves all over the region.

Founded in 2013 by Deckson and JR, the duo started the label as a way to express their creativity, having been passionate streetwear fans from a young age.

Their designs focus on simplicity with an eye for detailing and are mostly inspired by daily life or a commentary about wider society. Each piece has a meaning or message which the label uses as a vessel to call out certain trends or phenomenon in the world. As co-founder JR puts it, “it’s almost like making a meme, but in a different kind of form.”

That direction has certainly been a winning formula for the brand thus far. In fact, the re-release of the label’s best selling item, the Marble Tee V1, was sold out in one day.

While the industry remains as competitive as ever, the founders are optimistic about what the future holds, particularly with the growth of consumers over the past years.

“There are more people acknowledging streetwear now, and more consumers in terms of the market,” said JR. “It will only get better, definitely more consumers from now, and it will take over more mainstream labels.”

The duo and their company Hamwiches Fashion Group are also the team behind PLUG (The PLAYBOOK Collective. For a closer look at what they have in store, check out their Instagram page at

Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” To Drop in S’pore and M’sia on April 10

If you missed out on the release of the Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” earlier this year, you’re in luck.

The Southeast Asian release of the shoe will officially take place at 9am on Tuesday (April 10) via Nike.com, so be sure to camp on the site early if you’re hoping to secure a pair.

The return of the “White Cement” hit the global stores earlier this year on Valentine’s Day to commemorate the 30th anniversary of when Michael Jordan dunked from the free throw line at the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest.

That iconic moment will always live through the silhouette as a mark in Jordan’s legacy as a basketball legend.

To celebrate that moment further, the outsole of the left-side contains a red stripe in the exact width of the NBA free-throw line, a tribute to the foot Jordan used to launch his epic jump.

The Swoosh posted the shoe on its launch calendar, stating that the drop will take place at 9am on Friday.

Easily one of the most sought after pairs this month (and it’s been a pretty hectic month for drops), the pair is a follow-up to last year’s The Ten collection between Nike and Virgil Abloh’s Off-White.

The Nike.com drop will be on a first come first serve basis, so be sure to set your alarms as the shoes are expected to sell out within the first few minutes.

Here’s An Official Look at the Off-White x Nike Mercurial Vapor 360

Nike and Off-White’s Virgil Abloh are set to launch a brand new collaboration, this time on the football pitch.

The Nike Mercurial Vapor 360 x Virgil Abloh will be released in extremely limited quantities on March 31, the same day PSG teen superstar Kylian Mbappé debuts the pair on the pitch.

In a recent statement by Nike, Virgil Abloh explains the design intent behind the striking shoe which appears in predominantly orange.

“For this Mercurial, I was interested in bridging the gap between foot and eye coordination,” says Abloh. “All the dots on the boot represent an optimal place to strike the ball.”

Visibly, blue dots appear on the part of the boot where most strikers would use to curl a shot. A smaller white dot is placed on the outer foot.

Of course, the boot does more than just inform its wearer on where he or she should hit the ball. In Abloh’s words, he hopes the design of the boot can serve as a message to its wearer’s opposition.

“Design is a powerful tool, as it communicates energy and a message, and it offers a unique capacity to make someone do a double take on-pitch — I feel like it would be intimidating to see this boot,” Abloh explained.

Off-White’s signature styling, including labels for “KNIT”, “LOGO” and “FAST AF” appear in various areas of the footwear.

On the medial side, the shoe also features the now iconic “Off-White for Nike” text box branding which has been a staple of the duo’s collaborations.

The boots will come in a custom box and shoe bag that share the same aesthetics as the striking cleats.

Nike VaporMax 97 “Silver Bullet” Drops in S’pore and M’sia on March 30

Hybrids and reconstructions are part and parcel of Nike’s approach in paying homage to the past while keeping things fresh.

The latest combination which debuted earlier this year is the Air VaporMax 97, which as the name suggests combines the upper of an Air Max 97 with the sole unit of an Air VaporMax.

The upcoming colourway of the VaporMax 97 pays tribute to the Air Max 97’s OG release of the “Silver Bullet”, inspired by the bullet trains of Japan.

Similar to the original, the upcoming pair blends leather and mesh in silver and white, along with its contrasting red mini Swoosh.

The pair will be available on March 30 from Nike.com at 9am for S$299/RM849.

Nike Tops World’s Most Valuable Apparel Brands of 2018 Ahead of H&M, Zara and adidas

Brand Finance, the world’s leading independent brand valuation and strategy consultancy, has just released its Top 50 list of the most valuable apparel brands in the world.

Nike has maintained its top spot despite experiencing “reduced popularity among teenagers” in the US market and a drop in brand value of 12%.

Nike’s main competitor adidas came in fourth behind H&M and Zara with an increase in brand value of 41%.

In the realm of luxury brands, Hermès overtook Louis Vuitton, jumping two spots from 7th to 5th from last year. Overall, a host of luxury brands including Hermès, LV, Gucci and Cartier experienced strong growth in brand value as more consumers in emerging markets buy into luxury goods.

Japan’s Uniqlo was the only Asian brand in the top 10, with Hong Kong’s Chow Tai Fook and China’s Anta taking up the 13th and 33rd spots respectively.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Air Max 97 “Portugal Patchwork” Gets A Release Date

In a follow-up to last year’s CR7 Air Max 97 “Golden Patchwork”, Nike and Cristiano Ronaldo are set to release a new colourway of their collaborative sneaker this April.

Previewed back in January, the sneaker adds to the partnership between Ronaldo and the Swoosh after the footballer became the third athlete, after Michael Jordan and LeBron James, to sign a lifetime sponsorship deal with Nike.

Inspired by Ronaldo’s humble beginnings when his mother would sew up holes in his shoes to save money, the latest colourway pays homage to his home country of Portugal.

The shoe will take on a predominantly Red upper with oddly-placed stitching to give the pair its patched-up aesthetics. A golden Swoosh on its lateral side alongside CR7’s branding on the heel provide subtle contrast.

The Nike x CR7 Air Max 97 “Portugal Patchwork” arrives in store on April 24.

These Are The 3 YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 Colourways Dropping In Mid-Year 2018

New updates have emerged regarding the upcoming releases of YEEZY BOOST 350 V2s for 2018.

According to Yeezy Mafia, rumour has it that three main colourways of Kanye’s flagship silhouette will be dropping between June and August this year.

The three colourways are the new “Butter” and “Sesame” editions of the shoe alongside the re-release of the highly-popular “Cream White” pair.

The “Butter” will be launching in June, the “Cream White” in July with the “Sesame” finishing off the summer season in August.

While these speculations are strong based on Yeezy Mafia’s track record, it should be said that neither adidas nor West has confirmed the release of the aforementioned pairs, so do stay tuned for more updates as the dates draw closer.
