Drake Breaks Billboard Music Awards Record For Most Single-Year Wins

Rap superstar Drake has surpassed Adele’s record for most Billboard Music Award wins in one night.

Drake racked up 10 awards in the pre-televised categories, before winning the prize for Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Artist.

“Life is like toilet paper,” said the Canadian rapper, during his final acceptance speech. “Either you’re on a roll, or taking sh*t from assholes.”

Out of the 13, Drake also won Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist and Top Rap Artist, alongside awards for sales, streams and genre categories.

Drake also set the night on fire with a performance of “Gyalchester” in the middle of the Bellagio fountain before flirting on stage with Vanessa Hudgens.

Drake Has The Second-Most No. 1 Albums In Rap, Ties Record With Eminem & Kanye

It’s safe to say that the launch of Drake’s More Life has been a raging success.

Not only has it broken several streaming records, its debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart has levelled Drake with rap superstars Kanye West and Eminem.

All three artists have seven No. 1 albums, which is the second-most No. 1 albums amongst rap artists. Only Jay Z has more No. 1 albums than them, with 13.

In its opening week, More Life sold an equivalent of 505,000 albums, with 257,000 attributed to the 384.8 million streams it garnered.

Drake’s More Life Just Broke Spotify & Apple Music Streaming Records

Drake’s new album More Life is set for a monumental week after smashing streaming records on both Spotify and Apple Music.

Tracks from Drizzy’s new album garnered 61.3 million global first-day streams on Spotify, beating previous record holder Ed Sheeran, whose Divide album collected 56.7 million plays on March 3.

On Apple Music, More Life generated close to 90 million streams on its first day, eclipsing any other artist on the platform.

That’s not it. Drake has also become the most played artist on a single day on Spotify, with a total of 76.4 million steams on March 19, breaking the previously set record of 68.7 million held by Sheeran.

Just a few days prior to the release of More Life, Spotify revealed that Drake surpassed the 10 billion stream mark, mostly from his Views album with hits like One DanceControlla, and Too Good.

Reports have also suggested that the album has boosted streams for several U.K rap artists who were featured. According to

[WATCH] Drake and Future Embrace Soccer For New Music Video

Rappers Drake and Future have just dropped their latest music video for ‘Used To This’ on YouTube.

The track is set to appear on Future’s upcoming album Beast Mode 16 with production and a sweet piano riff provided by the ever-talented record producer Zaytoven.

The pair released a mixtape last year called What A Time To Be Alive, featuring hits like Jumpman.

The music video was directed by top music and movie director Eif Rivera, who previously worked on videos for Kanye, 50 Cent and Lil Wayne.

In line with the lyric “Mexico, workin’ like I’m Mexico”, both rappers don jerseys of the Mexico International Team, as do the ladies that accompany them.

Kanye West Claims Rappers Stole His Stage Idea, Gets Called Out Instead

A couple of days ago during his performance in Edmonton, Canada, Kanye West called out imitators who have been stealing his tour aesthetics.

“This the original, accept no imitations!” said West on stage. “You with the rap God right now.

“[Others] be copying our sh*t bro. Stealin’ our sh*t, stealin’ our stages. Copying our sh*t one-to-one.”

While Kanye didn’t exactly name names, many believed the outburst was targeted at Drake, who used similar overhanging lights during the latter’s summer tour.

Well in an ironic twist of fate, South African rapper Cassper Nyovest has turned the tables on Yeezy with one Instagram post. The image showed Nyovest on a floating stage last year, way before Kanye had his own.

Nyovest also took to Twitter saying: “Woke up to my name on American blogs about how I possibly stole kanye’s stage. We did this a year ago already. lol. Ya Neh.”

Social media users were also quick to mention that Usher had a similar configuration during his “OMG Tour” back in 2013.

Even Drake himself had a floating stage – albeit a circular one – during his” Would You Like a Tour” in 2013.

It’ll a wonder to see how Kanye gets out of this one. If he’s taking ideas from elsewhere, he probably shouldn’t be calling others out for doing the same.
