Converse x JW Anderson Collection Drops in Singapore on April 25

A collection of collaborative sneakers from Converse and JW Anderson is set to be released in Singapore this Thursday (Apr 25).

Kicking off the pack is the Converse x JW Anderson Run Star Hike in black, which puts a contemporary spin to the classic Chuck Taylor design.

With its elevated midsoles, zig-zagged outsoles – akin to those found on hiking boots – and the classic uppers that we’ve come to know and love, the Run Star Hike is a bold take on the famous Chuck.

Alongside it is the release of the Converse x JW Anderson Americana Chuck 70, with the American Flag taking centre stage on the uppers.

The left side of the pair takes on the famous stars from the flag while the right comes in red and white stripes.

JW Anderson’s brand monogram grid is also printed throughout the uppers, making it a collaborative piece through and through.

Lastly, the Converse x JW Anderson Chuck 70 Grid will also be making its Singapore debut with the rest of the collection.

The Converse Chuck 70: The All Star for Today’s Generation

Converse may have had highly successful silhouettes in the Jack Purcell and the One Star, but it’s undeniable that the Chuck Taylor All Star is its most iconic sneaker of all time.

Since its introduction in the 1920s as a basketball shoe and its popularity in the 1960s and 70s, the Chuck Taylor All Star has remained relatively unchanged through the years. At a time when silhouettes come and go, the All Star easily claims the throne of OG for its longevity in the game.

The magic of the Chuck 70 is in its faithful reconstruction of the All Star that makes it the perfect pair for this generation.

For starters, the canvas used in the uppers on the Chuck 70 is thicker, with an extra layer stitched inside, allowing it to stand on its own and making it more durable.

The Chuck 70 also has a cushy foam insole, giving wearers added support and comfort.

Beyond what you can see and feel, the Chuck 70 also comes with nickel plated eyelets instead of aluminium ones from the classic All Star.

The toe box on the 70 has also be varied to match the creamy midsoles instead of the white ones on the All Star.

All in all, the Chuck 70 takes an iconic silhouette and updates just the right amount of elements to uphold its identity while keeping it relevant for today’s market.

The Converse Chuck 70 is available at all boutique stores and online for a retail price of S$129.90 (high top) and S$109.90 (low top).

Off-White x Converse Chuck 70 Drops in Singapore on Oct 9

The second collaboration between Off-White and Converse is making its way to Singapore on October 9.

This time, the pair sheds off its translucent upper and takes on a more traditional approach, using a canvas-ridden upper on the Chuck 70 model.

Virgil Abloh’s touch is apparent throughout the shoe, with his unique embellishments shining front and centre. Off-White’s popular stripes make their way onto the midsoles of the pair while trademark labelling can be found on the laces.

A splash of orange can be found on the outsole as well as the plastic tag on the laces.

The shoe will be released in Singapore via Limited Edt Vault and Dover Street Market Singapore. They will retail for S$209.90.

The raffle for DSM’s in-store release has already begun, with entries closing on October 5 at 5pm.
