Neighborhood and adidas To Include A “Triple Black” NMD In Their Collaboration

Neighborhood and adidas are set to release their upcoming collaboration on February 24, and joining the previously previewed four-piece collection is a “Triple Black” edition.

This pair will take on a similar aesthetic to the other pairs, including the notable ‘shark tooth’ motif in black.

The all-black shoe will be limited in release and is only expected to drop at pop-up shops in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Los Angeles, although it should crop up on the resale market fairly soon.

BAPE x adidas Dame 4 Drops in Singapore on February 17

Following our previous report that Limited Edt will be releasing the upcoming BAPE x adidas Dame 4 in Singapore, a landing page on adidas SG’s website confirms that the release will take place on February 17.

This means that both Limited Edt and adidas Originals will be dropping the pair in Singapore, along with the BAPE Store at Mandarin Gallery.

Introducing SLATE, Singapore’s Homegrown Label For Luxury Slides

While sneakers dominate the headlines when it comes to in-trend footwear, slides have quickly become the go-to essential for casual hangouts and beach parties. Household names like David Beckham, Rihanna and Gigi Hadid have even been spotted rocking slides on the move.

Labels from high fashion to sportswear have dominated the slides market in recent years, but these sandals often fall under the categories of “overpriced” or “aesthetically displeasing”.

Enter SLATE, a homegrown label and brainchild of Justin Matthew, a Singaporean who grew tired of needless compromise when it came to picking out the perfect pair of slides.

“Most slides are either highly priced from designer brands, or too sporty for the city life,” Justin explained. “As for most designer slides, a majority of them are fully constructed out of rubber. Prolonged usage caused me to attain abrasions as the uppers were too sturdy and stiff.”

After researching on concepts and the possible combination of materials, SLATE was born.

Made from top quality bicast leather, SLATE’s slides offer comfort and a lightweight construction that doesn’t fade or crack under sunlight. What’s more, its uppers are individually handmade with thick foam inserts, giving every pair its own character while ensuring a cozy and snug fit.

“There are many kinds of slides available in the market today. The most common kinds are the sporty-looking versions which I find lack appeal and finesse,” Justin added.

“Experimenting with texture co-ordination and pairing them with visually appealing colours has allowed me to produce a product which I feel can be both street and poolside worthy.”

Of course, SLATE has more in their sights in the coming months. Beyond slides, the label plans on introducing a line of joggers and tees later this year in their pursuit of becoming the go-to brand for basic apparel and essentials.

Currently, SLATE’s line up of slides consists of three colourways, namely Stealth, Midnight and Bumble G. They retail at US$60 and ship to Singapore from their official site.

Additionally, SLATE will be running an 18% discount for the month of February in celebration of Chinese New Year, so don’t sleep on this!

You Might Wanna Think Twice Before You Screen Shot Another Instagram Story

Stories is arguably the most popular feature on Instagram’s platform these days and given that posts only last for 24 hours, most of us have found ourselves saving a clip or two via screen shot.

That may soon come to an end as Instagram is testing a function that alerts a user whenever someone screen shots their post. A “shutter” logo will appear next to anyone who takes a screenshot, as seen in the Tweet below.

Some users have already begun to notice the change as Instagram randomly selects users for A/B testing.

According to TechCrunch, Instagram will consider implementing the alert for real if the test shows a significant impact on engagement. For instance, if people are watching fewer Stories due to the change, the feature probably won’t take effect anytime soon.

Either way, it’s probably a good idea to avoid taking any screenshots while tests are in place.

The Three Stripes and Japanese label Neighborhood have officially revealed their upcoming collection consisting of four sneaker models, including the previously previewed adidas NMD R1.

All four pieces share the same aesthetic theme including a black and white colour scheme. The pairs include an I-5923 (previously known as the Iniki), Chop Shop and Gazelle Super.

Similar to the NMD, the Chop Shop shares the same shark teeth motif, this time towards the back of the shoe, atop the white BOOST midsole.

The I-5923 has a more muted and slick look, opting for a blacked-out BOOST midsole, contrasted by a white outsole at the bottom and Neighborhood branding on stripe.

The Gazelle Super shares a similar outlook to the I-5923 with a fully blacked-out sole unit.

The adidas x Neighborhood Collection is set to arrive on February 24. Stay tuned for more details.

The upcoming collaboration involving Damian Lillard’s signature adidas Dame 4 silhouette and streetwear mega house A Bathing Ape is set to arrive in Singapore.

Limited Edt teased the Singapore release for the collaboration on Instagram, posting an image of both the adidas and BAPE logo.

The pair will be making its debut at adidas’ 747 Warehouse two-day event in Los Angeles on February 16 in three colourways – Black Camo, Green Camo and Red Camo.

As the Red edition is rumoured to be a “friends and family” pair, the other two are expected to be part of a global release between Feb 17 and 18, shortly after its debut in LA.

Critics Are Calling ‘Black Panther’ Marvel’s Best Film To Date, Out in Singapore on Feb 13

Marvel Studios’ upcoming blockbuster has maintained the company’s long-standing run of producing ‘Fresh’ films based on the Rotten Tomatoes ‘Tomatometer’.

Each of the studios’ 18 films in the past 10 years has gotten a ‘Fresh’ rating, with 16 of them achieving the coveted ‘Certified Fresh’ certification.

A 98% rating is a huge achievement for any motion picture and rightly so for this one, which many critics have calling it the best entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

At the forefront of its success is the film’s cultural and historical significance in showcasing a cast almost entirely made up of actors of African descent, and the portrayal of strong women warriors.

Its villain, portrayed by the talented Michale B. Jordan (Creed), has also earned praise amongst reviewers, solving Marvel Studios’ recurring issue of shallow villains with the exception of Loki.

The movie releases in Singapore on February 13, with advance ticket sales already available at Golden Village and Shaw.

Here Are The 10 Top-Selling Sneakers of 2017, And They’re Not What You Expect

Sneaker and sports industry analyst Matt Powell, representing his research firm NPD Group, has revealed the top-selling sports footwear in the US for 2017, based on dollars sold.

While adidas has been making headway in catching up with Nike as the number one sports footwear brand, the Swoosh dominated the top 10 list with its own brand as well as owned labels such as Converse and Jordan.

Of course, the list is based on retail sales and doesn’t consider resale transactions nor is it looking at the most expensive pair, simply the pair that sold the most in terms of total dollars spent, regardless of colourway.

Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Gold Toe” To Release in SG & MY on Feb 16

The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Gold Toe” is set to release in Singapore and Malaysia later this month.

The highly-anticipated kicks utilises a premium patent leather build throughout predominantly in white, gold and black.

The notable highlight of the pair can be found on its toe box, which is covered in glorious gold, giving it its “Gold Toe” moniker. Three sets of laces will also accompany the shoes, ones in black, gold and white.

The pair will be available from Nike.com in Singapore and Malaysia from February 16 at 9am, with free shipping.
