Travis Scott Officially Announces McDonald’s Collaboration

Travis Scott has taken to Twitter to officially confirm the previous rumoured partnership with McDonald’s.

The rapper posted an image of McDonald’s fries arranged in the shape of the Cactus Jack face logo.

The partnership appears to be part of a wider campaign between McDonald’s and celebrity endorsers sharing their favourite meals from the fast food chain.

According to McDonald’s, this would mark the first time since 1992 that a celebrity’s name has been featured on the McDonald’s menu. The first and only time was done by the legend himself, Michael Jordan.

The “Travis Scott Meal” looks to be available only in the US, consisting of a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, sizzling bacon, and crisp lettuce; medium fries with BBQ Sauce to dip, and a Sprite.

Based on a press release from McDonald’s however, there will also be an apparel line and releases in the coming weeks, which would be more accessible to those in Asia than the meal.

Update [9/9/20]: The apparel collection is now available.

Ultra Singapore 2018 Is Bringing OG EDM DJs to the Lion City, Don’t Miss Out

Ultra Singapore returns this weekend for a weekend of non-stop EDM action and its lineup this year is nothing short of stellar.

Rocking out in the heart of the CBD opposite Marina Bay Sands, Ultra Singapore sees the arrival of several OG acts that have made the airwaves in the EDM scene for many years.

The calibre of the lineup is unsurprising, of course, given Ultra’s global brand and weight. If you’re the remaining few EDM fans who have yet to purchase your tickets, here’s a rundown of notable acts to whet your appetite.

1) Above & Beyond

EDM groups may be hard to come by these days but Above & Beyond are raring to go at this year’s Ultra Singapore. The trio has established themselves as a force to be reckoned with since their formation in 2000 and has headlined almost every music festival you can think of.

In 2016, the group won their first Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording with “We’re All We Need” featuring Zoë Johnston while peaking at #4 on DJ Magazine’s top 100 DJs ranking in 2008 and 2009.

With top hits like “Sun & Moon” and “Thing Called Love”, they are certainly not an act to be missed at Ultra Singapore 2018.

2) DJ Snake

One of the most respected names in industry, French DJ Snake has made hit after hit and he isn’t stopping anytime soon.

If the name doesn’t ring a bell, maybe his hits like “Let Me Love You” featuring Justin Bieber and “Turn Down For What” with Lil Jon might.

Before making a name for himself as a DJ, Snake also produced the highly-popular Lady Gaga album “Born This Way” in 2011.

More recently, the Paris-based producer made the charts with Lauv on “A Different Way”.

3) Steve Angello

Needing no introduction, Steve Angello is the very definition of EDM royalty having been one-third of powergroup Swedish House Mafia.

While the trio may or may not be reuniting again, rest assured that a night with Steve Angello on the decks equates to one hell of a party.

Besides an epic list of discography with Swedish House Mafia including hits such as “Don’t You Worry Child” and “Save The World”, the man has also made a name for himself with solo hits such as “Show Me Love” and “Payback”.

4) Nicky Romero

Dutch DJ and producer Nicky Romero will also be making his way down to Ultra Singapore 2018, flying the flag for a long line of amazing Dutch DJs such as Tiesto, Armin van Buuren and Hardwell as his fellow countrymen.

A constant feature on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs, Nicky has made headlines since he entered the scene having played at numerous Ultra Music Festivals worldwide, alongside Tomorrowland and Coachella.

Notable hits include “I Could Be The One” and “Toulouse” from 2012.

5) Afrojack

If you’re looking for a DJ to simply “Take Over Control”, look no further than beatsmater Afrojack.

While the Dutchman made the charts recently with “Dirty Sexy Money”, it’s his earlier tunes such as the aforementioned “Take Over Control” and “Give Me Everything” featuring Ne-yo that will surely send the crowd into euphoria.

Afrojack is also a frequent collaborator of David Guetta and is known for throwing one hell of a party at music festivals. If you suffer from FOMO, you do not want to miss out.

6) Fedde le Grand

If you’ve been around the underground EDM scene over the last decade, Fedde Le Grand must be a household name.

The electro house DJ a name for himself with the absolutely catchy hook from “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit”, not to mention the song’s mildly NSFW music video.

If you’ve haven’t had a chance to watch the MV from 2007, check it out below.

Rauzan Rahman and Elementical Fury’s Latest ’65 Dante’ Remix Celebrates 28 Years of Singapore’s Hip Hop Scene

singapore hip hop rauzan ollie des mr boo

“Welcome to the 65”, rapper and producer Rauzan Rahman exclaims at the start of 65 Dante‘s original mix, the clearest indication that the track isn’t some run-in-the-mill hip hop number.

At a time when local and regional artists – even across the genres – are striving to sound like their Western counterparts, 65 Dante is a fresh take that embraces its roots and doubles down on it.

The remix stays true to that essence and even more so with the addition of Singapore’s OG hip hop DJ Ollie’Des and legendary MC Mr. Boo alongside the ever-talented Elementical Fury.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ws0ZeQvenNc]

Paying tribute to the OGs that came before him, Rauzan hopes to educate about the rich past of Singapore’s hip hop scene that often gets overlooked by mainstream media and audience.

He hopes to overcome this dissonance with his upcoming album, by uniting everyone that have contributed and are still contributing to the Singapore hip hop scene from past and present.

“We are losing the foundation bit on Singapore hip hop,” said Rauzan. “Nobody is actually putting in the effort to educate about the history of the scene. I hope by releasing this album, it will bridge the gap between the OGs and the up and coming.”

While Rauzan is an advocate for celebrating the golden era of Singapore’s hip hop arena, the man behind Team Highness also hopes to elevate a new generation of artists, both technically and mentally. Rauzan has produced for a number of artists, not to mention the up-and-coming Yung Raja (MC Raja), whom we featured late last year.

Whether he’s working with them on beats or providing guidance on navigating the scene, an important message Rauzan hopes to impart to younger artists he works with is the need to stay grounded.

“I don’t normally control the content of the acts but one thing that I always stressed to [up-and-coming artists] is that we have to always keep our feet on the ground,” added Rauzan.

“We have to appreciate every act to the point where we can all feel the accomplishment when the other person succeeds. The scene is really too small to be hating one and other.”

Check out Rauzan Rahman’s brand new music video for the 65 Dante Remix above or give it a listen on all major streaming platforms.
