Air Jordan 1 Satin “Shattered Backboard” To Drop on May 5

air jordan 1 satin shattered backboard

Set to join the ranks of resell royalty, the Air Jordan 1 Satin “Shattered Backboard” will be quite the drop for Jordan fans and resale opportunists alike.

On par with beloved classic colourways, the “Shattered Backboard” edition of the Air Jordan 1 took the sneaker world by storm in 2015, with resell prices hovering around the S$900-S$1,000 mark in recent months.

The added Satin makeover of the pair is likely to fetch even more, given how the Satin Royals performed when it was released last year.

Regardless, the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Satin “Shattered Backboard” is a sight to behold, with its embroidered Swoosh, sewn on Air Jordan logo on the ankle, high-quality tumbled leather throughout its upper and the satin finish on the toe box.

This upcoming pair, which is set for a May 5 release, also features a translucent orange outsole at the bottom.

There is a twist to the tale, of course, as the pair will be a women’s exclusive – that’s right, women’s sizing. Don’t fret if you’re a guy though, as sizes run all the way to a women’s 12, which equates to a men’s 10.5.

Feast your eyes on these bad boys below.

Multi-label retailer Seek has announced that it will be releasing a curated selection of Air Jordans over two consecutive Saturdays at its ION Orchard outlet.

Last weekend, it released the popular Air Jordan 3 “Black Cement” alongside the Air Jordan 1 “Los Angeles” and Air Jordan 13 “Hyper Royal”.

This Saturday (April 7), the highly-coveted Air Jordan 1 “Bred Toe” will be the crème de la crème of #SeekSaturjays, with many sneakerheads taking this opportunity to turn February’s L into a W.

Two other Jordans will also be releasing at Seek this Saturday, namely the Air Jordan 9 “Bred” and the Air Jordan 10 “I’m Back”.

Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” To Drop in S’pore and M’sia on April 10

If you missed out on the release of the Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” earlier this year, you’re in luck.

The Southeast Asian release of the shoe will officially take place at 9am on Tuesday (April 10) via Nike.com, so be sure to camp on the site early if you’re hoping to secure a pair.

The return of the “White Cement” hit the global stores earlier this year on Valentine’s Day to commemorate the 30th anniversary of when Michael Jordan dunked from the free throw line at the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest.

That iconic moment will always live through the silhouette as a mark in Jordan’s legacy as a basketball legend.

To celebrate that moment further, the outsole of the left-side contains a red stripe in the exact width of the NBA free-throw line, a tribute to the foot Jordan used to launch his epic jump.

How To Cop The Latest Supreme Drops in Singapore

With the recent release of Supreme’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection, many have asked what’s the best way to cop the latest drops from the streetwear giant here in Singapore.

While there’s no hard and fast rule as to the best method, there are in fact several options that Singaporean streetwear fans can choose from.

All of them have their pros and cons and ultimately depend on your preferences, connections and patience.

Here are some to take note of:

1) Physical Reseller Stores

This is probably the No. 1 go-to option when people think about getting streetwear locally. This is especially true for Supreme when it’s hard to trust a random stranger on the internet to sell you his dubious looking Supreme Box Logo Hoodie for a “steal” price.

No one wants to spend a bomb only to end up with a “fufu” product. This is where big name physical stores shine: they are established, they have a reputation to maintain AND you can drop by anytime to check out their stock in person. Be prepared to pay a premium though, at least 50-100%.

Pros: Offline reseller stores are usually more established and have much more to lose if you bought a counterfeit item from them. In most situations, you pay for what you get here: overpriced legit grails.

Cons: Overpriced.

2) Online plugs: Carousell & WhatsApp

Fans of the street fashion would be aware of sellers or proxies that take pre-orders or resell on online platforms such as Carousell and WhatsApp. In most cases, these deals tend to be much cheaper than the aforementioned offline shops. If your proxy happens to be someone who has a high success rate of copping legit goods, then congratulations, you have hit the jackpot!

For the rest who aren’t as lucky, you will have to be more careful as this option is not known for its reliability. In recent years, the community has seen many cases of sellers going MIA with preorder payments or counterfeits being passed off as authentic.

Pros: Well-known proxies can be cheaper than resellers, but not always

Cons: Chances of you getting scammed is high if you do not legit check or have no idea what to check for

3) Friends based in UK/US/Japan

If you have friends located in the UK, US and Japan, you’re in luck because you are going to need them if you’re hoping to get latest drops at the closest to its retail price. However, it’s not exactly an avenue you can take advantage of every week. Otherwise, even if you don’t feel “paiseh” about asking them to queue for you on a weekly basis, you might have already lost a friend or two.

Pros: This is probably the only way where you can get your hands on a Supreme drop at retail price

Cons: No guarantee that your friends will be able to cop the items, given the limited supply and the amount of time and effort to cop offline.

4) Wait for Supreme to open a store in Singapore

Hmmm… no comment.

Pros: Well, happy waiting!

Cons: Wait long long

5) Reputable overseas resale platforms

Overseas resale platforms like Stockx and Grailed might be a good option for copping things like Supreme, which is plentiful in the US. You might need to set up a forwarding address in the US to have a smooth time though, as not all sellers ship directly to Singapore. Take note of shipping costs to determine if it is worth it as international delivery may cost a bomb.

Pros: Plenty of stock to cop from. Prices may work out to be cheaper than buying locally.

Cons: International delivery may cost a bomb, so the total cost may not be worth it. Delivery may take a long time, especially if forwarding is involved. There is also a certain degree of risk involved: it will be a huge hassle if there is any dispute regarding your product due to the distance between you and the seller.

6) Novelship

If you don’t want to pay crazy prices in physical resell stores or haven’t found that a reliable plug, then you might wanna give Novelship a try. They spare you the trouble of having BFFs all around the world, the trouble of doing legit checks yourself and the patience of trying to wait for Supreme to open a store in Singapore.

Simply place an order on the platform and wait for the sellers from the other end of the world to get you what you’re looking for and ship them over. You might compare them to Stockx or even Grailed, but since they are based in Asia, the location itself does provide them with some advantages, especially for the Asian consumers.

Unlike Stockx or Grailed, where they usually only provide US stocks, Novelship has sellers in many different countries. This makes sourcing for brands such as BAPE, Undercover and Fila much easier. Shipping between Asian countries also tends to be quicker as compared to crossing continents.

Pros: Always get authentic Supreme items as all items that pass through Novelship will get authenticated before it gets shipped out. Also, in the rare occasions that sellers flake, money is held with Novelship anyway, so you can get back your payment with ease.

Cons: No matter where you get your Supreme merch, patience is always required due to time spent on purchasing, shipping and delivering.

You Can Now Ballot For The Off-White x Nike VaporMax Flyknit on END Launches

A mere hours after getting a closer look at the upcoming Off-White x Nike VaporMax Flyknit, international retailer END Clothing has opened its ballot draw for the pair.

A slight variation from last year’s pair which had a white midfoot Swoosh, the 2018 version comes with a black Swoosh instead but retains many of the Off-White elements we’ve come to love.

As with every END Launches ballot, users will have to provide their payment details so that if you are successful in the draw, your purchase can be processed immediately. No transaction will be made if you are unsuccessful.

If you’re located in Singapore, the shoe will be priced at S$369 with an additional S$32 for delivery.

Alternatively, both DSM Singapore and Nike.com has confirmed that it will be releasing the shoes as well.

The draw closes on March 30, so be sure to register as soon as possible on END Launches.

At the time of writing, there are two ways to get yourself a pair of the latest collaboration between Nike and ACRONYM, which are via Nike.com SG and Dover Street Market Singapore.

The shoes will be priced at S$299.

These Are The 3 YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 Colourways Dropping In Mid-Year 2018

New updates have emerged regarding the upcoming releases of YEEZY BOOST 350 V2s for 2018.

According to Yeezy Mafia, rumour has it that three main colourways of Kanye’s flagship silhouette will be dropping between June and August this year.

The three colourways are the new “Butter” and “Sesame” editions of the shoe alongside the re-release of the highly-popular “Cream White” pair.

The “Butter” will be launching in June, the “Cream White” in July with the “Sesame” finishing off the summer season in August.

While these speculations are strong based on Yeezy Mafia’s track record, it should be said that neither adidas nor West has confirmed the release of the aforementioned pairs, so do stay tuned for more updates as the dates draw closer.

REMINDER: Nike’s Three Big Drops This Weekend (March 24)

Sean Wotherspoon Game Royal Tinker

This Saturday sees the release of not one, but three big drops from Nike and the Jordan Brand.

There’ll be a bloodbath to add items to carts, and trade-offs will be made to prioritise which to cop and which to drop.

So to make your life as easy as possible, here are some ways you can secure your pair of Nike’s three big drops this weekend.

1) Nike Air Max 97/1 x Sean Wotherspoon

sean wotherspoon singapore malaysiaArguably the most “hyped” pair amongst the three, the Air Max 97/1 x Sean Wotherspoon will also be the most limited in supply to cop. To get you started, you’d want to join as many online draws as possible, even the ones overseas. One of the most popular options is END Launches (Do note that submitting your payment details doesn’t mean you’ve secured the shoe; it’s still a ballot). Besides END, Sneakersnstuff also ships overseas, although at a higher shipping cost.

In Singapore, local retailer Limited Edt will be holding its own public ballot. To enter, customers are required to purchase a pair of Nike Air Max shoes to receive a ballot ticket. Read more on LE’s Facebook post here.

Alternatively, Nike.com in Singapore and Malaysia will also be dropping the shoes online on March 24 at 9am. This will be a race for the fastest fingers, so be sure you get up early and knock this one home.

2) Air Jordan 3 “Tinker”

The Air Jordan 3 “Tinker” has been one of the most talked about AJ3s in recent times, especially with Justin Timberlake rocking a version of the pair during his Super Bowl performance. Constructed based on early sketches by famous Jordan and Air Max designer Tinker Hatfield, the shoe is an embodiment of Nike’s approach in looking back to move forward.

Unfortunately, most international e-tailers like SNS are launching the shoe exclusively for their own regions, with the exception of END Launches, so give this one a go.

Of course, Nike.com will be releasing the shoe in Singapore and Malaysia as well, so do keep a look out for it at 9am on March 24.

3) Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Game Royal”

Following the highly-coveted Air Jordan 1 High “Bred Toe”, the upcoming “Game Royal” colourway is expected to match in anticipation. The upcoming pair is an alternate colourway to the popular “Royal” edition, trading most of the black sections of the older version with blue instead.

Two online raffles to take note of are Sneakersnstuff and END Launches. Locally, Nike.com will also be releasing in Singapore and Malaysia online at 9am on March 24.

If physical queues are your kinda thing, Limited Edt in Singapore will also be selling shoe on a first come first serve basis on Saturday at LE Hall of Fame (Vivo City) and LE Chamber (Marina Bay Sands).

Good luck!
