Calling all Ninja Warrior enthusiasts! This month, Singapore will play host to Southeast Asia’s largest and most technically-challenging land and water obstacle course over two weekends on 26-27 May and 2-3 June at The Promontory at Marina Bay.
Aptly named Battle Bay Extreme, this first-of-its-kind obstacle course is part of the DBS Marina Regatta and as part of a collaboration with Under Armour. It’s the closest you’ll get to the popular Ninja Warrior and Wipeout courses, and the perfect opportunity to challenge your friends and test which one of you is really the toughest. Aside from bragging rights, you might even win the top prize of S$500 if you clock in the quickest timing.
Battle Bay Extreme is a follow-up to last year’s Battle Bay (imagine Battle Bay on steroids!)
This year’s course consists of three levels of difficulty, tailor-made for fitness enthusiasts of any level and each course features unique obstacles designed to test your physical strength, endurance and speed.
The first level, Initiate, is built for beginners, but don’t be fooled by its name as this course is no easy feat. Enjoy thrills and spills at this water obstacle course that consists of nine inflatable stations such as monkey bars, rope swings and wall climbs, which will test your will in a fun, Wipeout-style setting.
In addition, you could catch Singapore’s very own Olympic gold medalist Joseph Schooling, who will be there to lead and cheer his team on during the Celebrity Challenge happening on 3 June!
In the mood for a challenge? Try your hand at the Intense course, which involves 10 land obstacles of intermediate difficulty, including a 4-foot hurdle, tyre flips, sandbag throws, crawls and farmer walks.
Here’s a rundown of the 10 obstacles:
If you read all that and weren’t intimidated one bit, the third level might just be the course for you. The Insane course is not for the faint-hearted, and is specifically designed to push your limits and endurance. If you think you have what it takes, give this one a go. The course will see you try out eight advanced obstacles, such as quintuple steps, slack lines, rope climbs, a cargo net, traverse wall, cliff hanger and even an inverted ladder.
In addition to the S$500 prize money, there are also second and third place prizes of S$300 and S$200 respectively, plus over S$10,000 worth of JBL audio equipment to be won.
That’s not all! Even if you don’t make it to the top 3, every Battle Bay Extreme (Initiate) participant who completes the course will walk away with a Finisher Pack worth over S$100, while those who complete the Battle Bay Extreme Intense or Insane course will receive a finisher pack over S$150 which includes a limited edition Under Armour tee!
Registration is reasonably priced at S$10 for Initiate and S$48 for Intense and Insane. Students and DBS cardholders are also eligible for discounted registration prices of S$8 and S$28 respectively.
What’s more, you’ll be contributing to a good cause. All proceeds from registrations for Battle Bay Extreme will be donated to Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities to help active ageing seniors adopt innovative digital solutions. DBS will also be matching the proceeds with a donation of S$50,000.
