Here’s A Playlist To Prep You For The Backstreet Boys Concert This October

Move over Harry Styles and co., one of the most iconic (and best-selling) boybands of the 90s and 2000s will be coming to Singapore on 21 October for a one-night only concert – Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life.

Feeling rather nostalgic, we’ve created a playlist that’ll have you reminiscing, singing along, and crushing on men with gel-spiked hair with bleached tips or entirely creepy goaties.

Here’s a full track listing and you can listen to the full playlist at the bottom of this article.

  1. Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) – Backstreet Boys

This song is in our honest opinion literally one of the most iconic 90s/2000s songs of all time (see also, Mr Brightside, Wannabe etc) and therefore, deserves to be the first in this playlist.

  1. I Want It That Way– Backstreet Boys

Taking into account the album cover for ‘Millennium’ (1999), which this song was on and as one of the last great hits before 2000, as well as being what many consider to be their signature song, there was no way I Want It That Way came any lower on this playlist than second.

  1. As Long As You Love Me – Backstreet Boys
  2. Shape of My Heart – Backstreet Boys
  3. Quit Playing Games (With My Heart) – Backstreet Boys

These songs without a doubt defined millions of girls’ ideas of love. If you haven’t watched the music video for Shape of My Heart, please do so immediately to restore your faith in love and the existence of emotional men.

  1. Larger Than Life – Backstreet Boys

Let’s take a break from the romance, shall we? Larger Than Life is so freaking catchy if you don’t know at least the chorus, we don’t even want to know where you’ve been for the past twenty years.

  1. Tearin’ Up My Heart – *NSYNC
  2. Bye Bye Bye – *NSYNC

Alright, alright, we had to throw in some *NSYNC too because what’s a 90s boyband playlist without this iconic rivalry? Tearin’ Up My Heart proved that *NSYNC could do love songs just as well as our beloved Backstreet Boys. Bye Bye Bye on the other hand shows off their catchy pop abilities that we all love and remember.

  1. Uptown Girl – Westlife
  2. Swear It Again – Westlife
  3. Flying Without Wings – Westlife

Since we were on a roll, to complete the ultimate boyband triad Westlife just had to be included (also what’s more amazing than a boyband? An Irish boyband, that’s what). Westlife’s version of Uptown Girl is another one of those songs that just made the 2000s and that everyone still knows the lyrics to ‘til this day. As for Swear It Again and Flying Without Wings? We had to finish this throwback playlist with what these boybands were best at. Love ballads.

†This song has more than 171 million plays on Spotify. Impressive when you consider it was released in 1999, almost 10 years ago and loooong before Spotify was even a thing.
