Speculating The Possible Line-Up For Laneway Singapore 2018

JD Sports Singapore

The 2018 line-up for St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival Australia was recently announced and tickets went on sale quickly after, suggesting that an announcement for Singapore’s line-up is imminent.

While Singapore’s line-up is usually a little smaller than Australia’s, we can only hope it remains just as good as it has been in previous years.

Earlier this year, Laneway Singapore showcased local favourite Sam Rui, who we featured recently, alongside international artists from a range of genres like Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker), Gang of Youths, Glass Animals and Tycho.

In speculation of which artist might be dropping by our shores, the Australian line-up may provide us with some hints.

Early teasers for next year’s Aussie line-up included names like Mac DeMarco and Anderson.Paak.

As always, there is also a strong sense of national pride in the Australian line-up with local favourites Amy Shark, who is also set to open for Sia later this year, Cable Ties, City Calm Down and Miss Blanks.

Artists like The Internet, Wolf Alice and ODESZA are playing exclusively at Laneway (meaning no sideshows for the festival deprived), so fingers crossed that this includes our little red dot.

Comparing this year’s Australian and Singaporean Laneway line-ups, Singapore’s line-up tends to keep more well-known acts in their programme.

While there were definitely notable musicians in our line-ups (i.e. Nick Murphy, Sampa the Great and Jagwar Ma), down-under favourites like Dune Rats, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, as well as then up-and-comers Tash Sultana and Jess Kent were noticeably absent.

We can only sit and wait for Laneway to release the line-up for Singapore but by last year’s scheduling they’re already a week behind (!!!) #firstworldproblems

All we know for certain is that the festival will be in town on January 27.

Stay tuned for more updates and Like us on Facebook to be the first to know.

Originating in Melbourne, Australia, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival is an indie music festival dedicated to discovering fresh new music and bringing communities together.
