In a first major release since 2013, John Mayer has released ‘Wave One’ of his The Search of Everything project.

The release features a collection of four songs including the single Love On The Weekend which hit airwaves late last year.

Earlier this month, Mayer took to Facebook to explain that the album will be released in stages – four songs at a time, every month.

The sound is reminiscent of his previous albums but with a new spin to them, taking both influences of blues and country.

The first track for instance, Moving On and Getting Over, contains bluesy riffs, palm mutes along with Steve Jordan’s sultry drums while second track Changing could have fit right into Paradise Valley with its country harmony and lead.

Mayer recruited the team who worked on the Continuum LP back in 2006, with bassist Pino Palladino and the aforementioned drummer Steve Jordan accompanying.

Mayer’s new tracks are all available for streaming on Spotify, as below.
