Nintendo of America’s President Reggie Fils-Aimé visited Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show to show off the upcoming Super Mario Run game for the iOS.
However during the segment, Fils-Aimé surprised Fallon – a massive fan of The Legend of Zelda games – with the new Nintendo Switch console, which is geared for a March 2017 launch.
This is the first time the Switch has been demoed on television and Fallon had the chance to experience the new console in action with none other than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In the audience was also Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of both Mario and The Legend of Zelda to cheer Fallon on.
As expected, we got a glimpse of how the ‘switching’ mechanism works from console to handheld device, and from what it looks, the transition is immediate.
The clip doesn’t really reveal any new information beyond what we saw in the trailer, but it does give gamers a good idea of how the switching works to go portable.
Besides that, Nintendo fans got a chance to watch Miyamoto rock out with the roots, playing the theme to the popular Super Mario franchise.
