Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville have plans to open a branch of their football-themed cafe in Singapore in 2017.
The pair have teamed up with Singaporean billionaire Peter Lim on several property developments in the UK including a hotel and cafe, and are now planning to expand their ventures to Asia.
The Hotel Football and Café Football operations began as a joint venture between Lim and Manchester United’s ‘Class of ’92’ players. Lim’s Rowsley Ltd acquired the businesses last year, retaining Giggs and Neville as minority shareholders and spokesmen.
Besides Singapore, Rowsley Ltd plans to expand their hotels and cafes to China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore over the next 12 to 18 months.
“We feel now is the right time to expand,” Neville said at a media briefing in Singapore. “We have an aggressive roll-out plan for Hotel Football, looking to over 5,000 new rooms over the next five to 10 years. We already have discussions in India, China, Thailand, and Malaysia, as well as other parts of the UK.”
Lim has been growing his prominence in world football, having owned several Manchester United-themed bars across Asia before purchasing a controlling stake in Spanish La Liga giants Valencia CF in 2014.
