EA Sports drops First Trailer for FIFA 18 with Cristiano Ronaldo as Main Star

EA Sports has unveiled its reveal trailer of FIFA 18, giving fans of the football simulator a first look at the upcoming game.

With Cristiano Ronaldo at the forefront of the game, the trailer first showcases gameplay footage of the Real Madrid star before revealing his involvement in motion capture work.

Decked out in the usual mo-cap suit, Ronaldo was quickly shown to be putting in the work to accurately depict his running style, hopefully adding that extra bit of realism to the game.

FIFA 17 was a widely successful hit, with the addition of new modes such as The Journey story mode and FUT Drafts.

Pre-orders for the game has already begun, offering three days early access and special bonuses on FUT.

Although the footage doesn’t reveal much, it’s safe to say EA has some surprises up their sleeve, and fans are hoping that they continue their winning streak, especially with competitor Konami hot on their tails with an improved PES 2017.

FIFA 18 drops worldwide on September 29, 2017.

As the name suggests, the bundle will include the new slim edition of the PlayStation 4 (500GB), three PS4 titles, and a 3-month subscription to PlayStation Plus.

The three games in the bundle are the critically-acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn, racing title DRIVECLUB and Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank.

The bundle is set to drop on May 3 at all Sony Authorised Retailers nationwide.

Given that the prices for PS4 games range between S$60-S$80 on average at retail, and a 3-month PS Plus subscription costs S$15, the bundle looks like a winner if you’ve been holding off your console purchase.

Trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront II Leaked Early, Teasing Single-Player Campaign

The first trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront II video game leaked online, days before its intended debut at Star Wars Celebration this weekend.

The trailer gives us a glimpse of what to expect from the EA title, particularly in the types of combat that players will be immersed in. The clip also teased a possible storyline for the single-player campaign, a feature that was missing from EA’s first Battlefront title which garnered widespread complaints.

Early on the teaser, we are presented with “The Untold Soldier’s Story” along with a voiceover from a female Imperial soldier, who is likely to be the main protagonist in the single-player journey.

The trailer also reveals that several game modes will take place “across all eras”, with clips featuring characters such as Yoda, Darth Maul, Rey and Kylo Ren.

No word yet on a release date, but judging by how the 2015 Battlefront was released just in time for The Force Awakens, it won’t be too farfetched to think that Battlefront II would be teed up in line with The Last Jedi later this year.

EA Confirms Battlefront 2, Will Finally Include A Single-Player Campaign

In last night’s earning call, Electronic Arts has confirmed that the sequel to Star Wars Battlefront will be released later this year during the holiday season.

According to EA, the development team have listened to the fairly vocal feedback from fans around the world. The follow-up to the 2015 space shooter will be “even bigger” and will include a single-player campaign.

The absence of a campaign mode in the first Battlefront reboot was a huge talking point amongst critics and fans. Developers DICE of the popular Battlefield franchise has been lauded for their emotionally-driven storylines and game design, leaving many fans disappointed that their first take on Star Wars was purely multiplayer.

Moreover, many fans felt that online game modes were far too simplistic, and lacked the depth and complexity that made the Battlefield games so memorable and addictive.

Besides the addition of single-player, EA said that Battlefront 2 will include content “from multiple eras”, emphasising on The Force Awakens and Rogue One as examples of how the film series has expanded.

Along with DICE, the sequel to Battlefront will be co-developed by Motive Studios and Criterion (Need for Speed).

“For the first time ever, we generated over $1 billion in operating cash flow in a quarter,” said EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen.

“This is a true testament to the innovation we built into Battlefield 1 and FIFA 17 and the continued strength of our digital live services.”

During the call, EA also confirmed that FIFA 18 will see the continuation of The Journey, featuring new characters and storylines. The 2018 edition of the popular game is said to be “the most emotionally immersive and connected FIFA” EA has ever produced.

FIFA 17 is widely regarded as one of the best entries in the franchise, garnering to Metacritic score of 85. Besides the addition of game modes, the game included multiple improvements to its online services, with significantly smoother matches over the net.
